Cara

- Yoga Teacher

Multi-disciplinary artist and founder of Breath & Barefeet Yoga, Cara K. Griffin, discovered yoga by complete accident. At age 15,  she worked tending plants at a day spa owned by Kundalini Masters, Tammy & Ataana Badilli. The ferns were outstanding, and their teachings changed the direction of her life.

Cara found her calling in yoga activism and specializes in hip and pelvic mobility. Her battle cry is "Free your Pelvis, Free your Mind."

A dedicated student, she has over 1000 registered training hours and holds several certifications in diverse modalities. She's taught internationally, toured the U.S., served as a Professor of Yoga for Georgia Southern University, and created yoga programs for Savannah State and Savannah College of Art & Design.

Cara's modern approach embraces numerous traditions while adapting to individual needs. Her creative sequencing and alignment-specific cues integrate over two decades of personal experience with golden wisdom from her teachers. She embodies the practice with lighthearted play and reminds students to wiggle their toes, breathe in and out, and be courageous about taking rest. Students learn Sanskrit, anatomy, poetry, and philosophy and are treated to a short "nap" at the end of class.

Teaching yoga is a tremendous honor and privilege, and Cara is graciously indebted to the incredible Mangala ohana. Mahalo nui loa. The community's exemplary Aloha reminds her not to lose sight of what's most important: our connection to each other. A portion of Cara's profits are donated to Auwahi foundation, dedicated to dry forest restoration on the leeward side of Haleakala. Find out more at www.auwahi.org or at www.breathandbarefeet.com
